The Chicago Protective Apparel SWH-8H-AD is an arc flash switchpuller's overhood that provides a thermal protection level of 8 cal/cm². It is classified under NFPA 70E Hazard Risk Category 2 (CAT 2).
Fabric Material: Made from Westex Indura® Ultra Soft® flame-resistant fabric, consisting of an 88% cotton and 12% nylon blend.
Visor Shield: Equipped with an Advanced (AD) grey-tinted faceshield that provides clear color visibility.
Head Protection: Includes a hard cap (specifically model #E2RW with Fibre-Metal's SuperEight® 8-point ratchet suspension) built right into the hood structure.
Standards Compliance: Fully compliant with current NFPA 70E guidelines and ASTM F1506 testing requirements.
This protective hood is designed specifically for utilities workers and industrial electricians performing low-to-medium risk electrical switching operations, such as pulling high-voltage switches or working inside sub-panels where a Category 2 electrical environment exists.
